iGEM Fundraising support (Summer 2025)

What it is
We provide fundraising support for iGEM teams from the Rhein-Main Area who have selected entrepreneurship as part of their gold medal requirement in the iGEM competition.
That is iGEM:
The International Genetically Engineered Machine (iGEM) competition is the world’s largest student-led synthetic biology competition.
Over the course of 10 months, iGEM teams:
- Design, build, and test engineered biological systems
- Work on tracks such as: Diagnostics, Therapeutics, Environment, Food & Nutrition, Hardware, Software, and Foundational Advance
- Develop a full project, including wet lab, dry lab, hardware, public engagement, human practices, and a live presentation at the Grand Jamboree
Why it matters
iGEM offers one of the few opportunities where life science students can fully own and lead a biotech project, from ideation to MVP (Minimum Viable Product), without the usual academic constraints.
iGEM provides a low-risk, high-learning entry point where students can test entrepreneurial thinking in a supported, real-world context.
We support iGEM Teams from Rhein-Main Area, including
- iGEM Mainz
- iGEM Frankfurt
- iGEM Darmstadt
